How long after you lost your mucous plug...

I lost mine in all its glory last Wednesday - I've heard anywhere from 2 days to 2 weeks. Obviously it wasn't 2 days although I got very excited what with the ongoing prodomal labor. I just wondered on average when others lost theirs in comparison to when real labor began...

I'm off bedrest now so I've been kicking up a storm here with the walking and other activities.

With my first, I think I lost the plug about a week before labor began. With my second, I somehow lost it without noticing, so I'm not sure. Good news, regardless, that your cervix is opening up for you!!

With all 4 pg/births, I only lost the mucous plug in active-to-transition labor. (sorry no help)

Good luck Mamas!

Mamazig - let's hold hands and chant! C'mon babies! C'mon babies!

Ehsclt - Definitely trying to focus on that positive...last check was 80% effaced, 1cm dilated but that was no change from the last time. URGH!

I have to say, as a first timer, I was mightily impressed by the mucous plug. I wanted to show it to someone but realized that was highly inappropriate LOL!

I know, it is kind of hard to imagine that I somehow lost mine without noticing the second time, isn't it??

I never saw mine the first time, I don't know if I even lost it until I was in the hospital and all hell broke loose!!

This time I have been losing "chunks" for over a week, with the most coming out over the last 24 hours. There was that one wonderful string of blood in one piece, but overall nothing too exciting. I sure hope that things will get going soon though!!

I wonder where it went? Sneaky MP!

Colorado - I was so hoping you were in the midst of labor but am sending you vibes lady! I had the same kind of thing (show, contractions that went nowhere) and we have another ultrasound next week as well. I feel like we're riding in the same boat.

The "average" is 1-3 days after losing it, but it can take a couple of weeks *shrug* Even after you lose it, you can manufacture a new one. They don't have to come out until you are in labor or when the baby comes out even. Losing a plug isn't a good indicator of when labor will happen

I lost mine after I had my membrane striped...but was induced 6 days later so no help there for you as a indicator pf when labour will start. Sorry

I lost small pieces of it from about 20 weeks on, and have had large bloody gobs every day or so for almost 3 weeks now. I'm 39 weeks and don't think there's a baby coming anytime soon. It regenerates itself. It generally means your cervix is changing, but dilation doesn't mean much. I was 5cm a week ago and am back down to 2 as of today. I was 3cm for a month before birth with my son.
Wish there was a better way of knowing when these creatures were coming!
