Will you take a look at my easy diaper-pattern?

Hello Ladies

I am new to diapersewing - to any sewing actually. I had never ever sewn a single thing in my life when I started sewing my first diaper 3 weeks ago. I have now made 4 diapers - each getting better than the one before. The latest one I made turned out really well - it is a T-shaped model fastened at front with a Nippy Nappa. I have written down instructions and a pattern here. and would like some feedback.
Personally I think it makes a good, soft and well-fitting diaper - but would like some feedback from all you pros
Hope it is of use to someone..

Hi Inca,
I'm curious about butt coverage and b/f poopy retention. I'll bet this diaper is quite trim fitting. I like how narrow you made the crotch but I have to admit to being a bit of a coward about how it's going to hold in the solids (or not-so-solids!). Have you used this on your little one? How did it do? I'm very curious...and if it does do a good job, I'm feeling a bit inspired.

I have had one poop-leak but that was in the beginning and because I had not put the wrap on properly.. Since then I have had no leaks - but my daughter doesn't poop very often (every 2 days approximately) and I have not counted how many of those times have been in that particular diaper. Yes it is trimfitting but with a good soaker it is very absorbent. I have used it as night-diaper and it works well. I like the fit of this diaper very much - and my own copy is close to the design of the original. I have no pee-leaks so far -apart from when I had the poopleak too..
If you decide to try it (it is quite fast I think - must be for a good sewer - though it takes me a long time) then please report back what you think.

I love your site! I think you have done a great job of showing how to draft a diaper pattern, and your diaper looks great! I'd love to try your pattern.

I will mention that you use 'needles' to hold fabric layers together, when I think you mean 'pins'.

I really wanted to poke around and look at the sites that you linked, it is so interesting to see how other people diaper. I also want to start calling diapers *nappies* - so much cuter! I couldn't get the first link to work though.

Thanks so much for sharing!

I have given the poop-question some thought since I didn't think the diaper was so small in the back so I took a couple of pics of my daughter wearing it and have now updated the pattern with pictures of my little girl wearing the diaper. There is a front view and a view of the back to show how much it covers.
As well as two pics of the diaper unfolded - one of the inside and one of the outside.

Looks good to me! I'll add it to our pattern resources sticky ;o)

Inca, that really does look great. If it can hold a poopy from a 2-day wait, then it's Grade A in my book!
