Best fabric available NOT online

Thread Starter
I have to do some super fast sewing to get my baby out of horrid sposies, so I have no time to order online.

What's the best fabric I'll find at my local fabric shop for fitteds (I have my PUL covers and snappis)? These are short-termers (we use a service at home), so cheap is good.

I'm thinking 100% cotton is essential, and flannel won't snappi. Any suggestions?

You could use flannel for the inner body of the diaper and terry cloth or polysester for the outside, both i believe are snappiable.
PS: www.diapershop.com has free shipping thru the end of december with a $20.00 or more purchase and I hear they have ligtening fast shipping. I haven't got my shipment yet because I used pay pal echeck and they had to wait for it to clear but everyone else ive talked to about it says they get it within a few days.

any kind of terry, knit or woven.

I was just at Joann's yesterday and they had some 80% cotton/20% poly velour which makes absolutely great inners or outers of diapers (even soakers). They had some lovely colors.

You can also use flannel as outers or inners (available anywhere), or microfleece as an inner found at Joann's and fleece as an outer (available anywhere).

If you get a chance to go to a fabric store, just look for cotton fabric that is at least 80% and feels nice to the touch. You can also make diapers out of old t-shirts.

In addition to terry cloth, consider flannel flats. You could even just rip squares and fold them into your covers. Ditto for cotton interlock, except you can't rip it.

Honestly, short-term you could snappi terry handtowels on your baby with washclothes as doublers. Folded undershirts even have wings aka arms. Anything absorbant will work since you have the covers you'll need.

Good luck.

They even have birdseye at my Joann's. I can't remember what they call it but it is in the "utility fabrics" section.
