Another T&T Question with PUL

Okay so yes I know that you can't T&T an AIO with PUL Sandwiched. So you serge it, okay I don't have a serger so I will zig zag and straight stitch it. My questions are

1.Does the zig zag have to be an over edge zig zag or can I just zig zag it above the elastic leaving about a 1/2" of material left(which I usually end up trimming a bit anyways)?

2. Do I then turn the diaper inside out(which would then be the right way and do the straight stitch over the back? I do mine under the elastic.

Would this above method then keep my outer print shell dry?

I didn't realize that I couldn't sandwich pul when I bought all these really cute outers. I still want to use them though so worse case is I make covers out of them, but I'm trying to get rid of covers except for at night when I will use wool.

Just a thought, but you could buy some cute poly outer and put those over the PUL. I was just at Joann's and they had some of the most amazingly beautiful synthetic fabric that would be gorgeous on a diaper. The poly or nylon should not wick if you put it over the PUL, and you still get the pretty look of a fancy outer.

Just a thought! I have never sandwiched PUL with cotton, so I can't offer any advice on that. If I want a pretty print I just make a fitted pocket and go coverless at home, or put wool/fleece covers over it.
