Does anyone know how many changes you have to make to an existing pattern to make it your own so that you can sell clothing from it? Some tell me 5 or more, some tell me only 1 thing.

There is a book put out by the NOLO Press Law For All series called "Your Crafts Business - A Legal Guide" which has a lot of good info on Copyright laws and other issues affecting WAHPs and small business, and I think it will answer all your questions, including this one and others that you didn't even know you had. According to the author and Attorney that wrote this book, clothing designs are one of the few groups of works that do not qualify for copyright protection.This explains the endless clothing design knockoffs found in retail stores.
