Hey all!
My son will be 2.5 at the end of March. He's been in our bed since about three weeks of age. By the way, why did it take me so long to figure it out?? lol! Another story for another time.
Anyhoo, for the longest time EVERY morning starting around when the sun comes up, my son awakens screaming or with a shrill cry almost every half hour until he finally dozes back off for his final two hours of sleep (or less grr.) I used to think it was because of the sun coming out and it waking him up. We put a comforter up across the window so it's pretty dark in here to try to remedy that but it still happens. Now that he's talking much better when he wakes up he usually says something. I think I finally figured out that he's dreaming and either he doesn't like what he's dreaming about or he's upset that he lost the dream. He always wakes up asking for his teddy bear, or a piece of cake (that one comes up all the time lol), firetrucks, whatever you can think of that a little boy would be thinking about.
It's really draining to be jarred out of sleep like this every single morning. I get so upset with him and sometimes I don't know what I'm saying or realize HOW I'm saying it to him because for the most part we're both pretty much sound asleep.
Does anyone else go through this pattern??? Anyone have suggestions?
Take care all!
