She never even mentioned the baby the entire weekend. Its not the whole 'gift' thing, because I really don't care that much about the 'stuff'...its just feels like no one really cares about this baby but my DH and I We are extremely excited to have another child and no one mentions it at all.
Mike was really hurt by this when we got pregnant with BooBah. We had been actively TTC, and we were so excited, and he was just blown away by the complete apathy of his family's response. I can't say that I was surprised, though. It's still a bummer, but I don't really expect much help for this baby, either. Then again, we didn't get any baby stuff the year before BeanBean was born... he was concieved at the end of February and born in November.

Could you please PM me that detergent recipe? I'm really looking forward to making my own again.

I found out where that rash on my arms was coming from-- polyester blend shirts. I never had it anywhere else because I generally wear undershirts when I'm pregnant (something long to cover my belly) but I figured it out today. That totally sucks, because I've only got two long sleeved maternity shirts that have no polyester in them. Blech.

Hey there, mamas!
Hope everyone had a nice, relaxing weekend!

Ours started out good but ended on a bit of a sour note.... The rear windshield of our car shattered for no apparent reason when getting ready to come home from my parents house! : Hadn't driven the car all weekend and it wasn't even running when this happened. DH and my dad were just loading the car up with gifts when DH heard a loud pop. He thought something had fallen out of the back and when he went back to check - noticed that the windshield was cracked and completely spider webbed! Tried to close the hatch gently - hoping it would stay together, but no suck luck. The thing crumbled into a million pieces all over my parents drive way! So - did our best to cover the gaping hole in the back of the car and made the 3 hour trip home all bundled up. To top it off - the manufacturer refuses to repair it, even though the car is still under (though barely) the bumper to bumper warranty! They cited other manufacturers' policies of only covering glass for the first 12 months.... Anyway - turned a claim into the insurance since we can't wait to get this fixed, and I'm happy to report that the insurance company is going to go after the manufacturer as the liable and responsible party!

Other than that - have picked up the cold that DH had last week. So far it's hasn't developed into anything beyond congestion and fatigue - but that's making me miserable enough.

Finally - an update from my MW appt last week. Everything is looking good but when he measured my fundal height - I measured 32 cm at just over 25 weeks (aren't you supposed to measure about a centimeter for each week?)! He had already been concerned because the baby was measuring 2 weeks big according to my sonograms (at 19 and 21 weeks) - but now he's really concerned. So, he's making us go in for another ultrasound for measurements and to check the babe's positioning. Anyone else ever have this sort of thing happen? Any ideas why my uterus could be measuring so large? I definitely know when my LMP was and am not too concerned yet, but I'm dying to know if he's going to change our due date - since there's the possibility of losing a couple weeks of this pregnancy....

Alright - better go.... Sorry this update got so long!
Take care, everyone!

steelcitysistah - What a bummer about the car window. Hope you start feeling better soon now.

celestialdrmama - Sorry about the family responses. I have yet to hear congratulations from some members of my family, even though I've seen them in person. It must be hard though during this time of year. Hang in there. And we're excited for you.

I don't have anything really exciting to post for me. I'm just enjoying these few days off from work.

Steel citysister,
Sorry about the windshield. Try and remember that ultrasounds are not 100% accurate at estimating size/date ESPECIALLY now that you are farther along in the pg. They are more accurate earlier in the pg for estimating dates, etc. So if you change your due date to weeks earlier just for that reason then what happens if you go "overdue" and you doc thinks you are 42 wks and really you are 40 because he changed your EDD by a few weeks. Changing the EDD is not going to make your body go into labor sooner than when it it ready.

Sorry, I will get off the box now, I really love birth and it is a huge passion of mine so I get all riled up about things. Please let me know if you just don't want to hear it from me.

Update on me:
Baby is moving like crazy mostly at night. Christmas was great, my DH got me Spiritual Midwifery and I love what I have read so far. My son was sick for the last four days so he spent Christmas with a fever and runnny nose! He did not seem to care though (he's only 2) he is now playing with all of his tractors and loving it. I don't have another MW appt until next week (the 9th) and I have a lot of work to do. Our house is a disaster and I still need to plan the next ICAN meeting. I have the topic chosen (planning a VBAC) but have not done the work yet!!!!!!!!! I have also not reconciled the bank acct in about 4 months so DH is on me to do that. SO I better get busy.
Hope everyone had a great holiday and have a good new year!

DH got me that book too!
I've already read Ina May's Guide to Childbirth, and LOVED it. Spiritual Midwifery is fun! It makes me giggle to see all the hippy vans and hear those fun stories!
DH also got me Infant Massage. It was highly recommended through Massage School. I had Baby Massage already, but Infant Massage is a lot better IMO!

^I <3 that book! It was the first book I picked up when I found out I was preggers. The pictures & stories are so inspirational

*hugs* to everyone.

I have been sick sick sick. My last day of work was last week... I thought that would mean LESS sickness! (I was a teacher in a Child Development Center thus always catching the latest superbugs) Oy vey. Totally knocked out.

To add injury to injury I had reconstructive surgery the day before christmas (with local ana) which is hopefully the last in my series to repair my broken face & jaw. The swelling is finally starting to subside... I hope I can get to my yoga class tonight.

I feel like a zombie. A pregnant zombie.

I'm going to go lay back down with the cats. Sending everyone well wishes!

I ended up making the hour drive down to my midwife's office at about 6:30 last night (she just happened to still be there when I called and told me to come in). The baby had been moving way less this week which I played off as me being too busy to notice, but yesterday he only moved for about 20 min in the am and not at all the rest of the day. So I went in and she did a NST in the office, and of course he started kicking away as soon as she put the monitor on She said that his heartrate showed good variability for age, and he's been moving ever since then so I guess he's just a little booger like Anna was. Since I had a regular prenatal appt scheduled for Mon, she just had me do all the regular stuff while I was there.

I found out while I was there that I have a UTI, which I seriously had no clue! About 2 weeks ago I had bladder pain, felt yucky, etc and drank a bunch of cranberry juice, then felt fine. Apparently I've probably had it all this time which is why my lower back has been hurting We're just waiting for the culture to come back from the lab to decide what to do. Funny, now that I know I have a UTI, I've noticed my bladder actually hurts The other 2 times in my life I've had a UTI I definitely knew it and I was completely miserable...very odd this time. She confirmed my suspicion that the baby is still hanging out breech but said that is not a big deal at all at this point. Its just weird to me, cause Anna was vertex from about 24 weeks on. I'm measuring at 28 weeks which is perfect since I'm 26 weeks and have extra 'padding' So besides the UTI and the baby trying to freak me out, everything looks great!

My midwife mentioned that I will be coming in every 2 weeks from now on, because I need to get my 1hr glucose screen and Rhogam done at 28 weeks, and then since I'm in the third trimester its more frequent visits. I was pretty freaked out because I didn't realize that it was getting that close! I keep telling myself I've got lots of time to get all the stuff I want done...but I am finally realizing I only have 3 months! YIKES!

celestialdrmrmama - I have felt the same way just recently. I don't know if I'm going to have enough time to get everything done before the baby comes.
I was feeling a little anxious this morning too because I usually feel the baby kick a lot when I go to bed and when I get up, but didn't feel anything this morning. I kept changing positions and it finally started to awaken and kick around a little bit. Then I've been feeling kicks off and on all day so that is good.

Other than that I feel pretty worn out from this last two weeks of craziness. It's not over though I'm going out of town for 3 days for New Years and we have to drive 6.5 hours one way. So not looking forward to being in the car that long. It's really uncomfortable. I'm glad my dh has been driving more lately on long trips since I've been pregnant though, it's really nice.

Well, I hope everyone has a great New Years.

My DH just told me that the baby was kicking him while we were sleeping last night. I'm glad to hear it because I thought the baby was moving less but apparently I've been sleeping through the kicks. I think I'm getting sick. UUGGGHH! Homefully we can get our baby hammock up this weekend so I can feel as though I'm making some head way in preparing for the baby. Just three more months. I can't wait.
Hope everyone is doing well.

We've got plenty of kicking and wiggling going on here, too.

This baby, like my previous two, is vertex. BooBah didn't turn breech until the very end, and of course she broke her water and dropped cord & feet. BeanBean grew with his head in my pelvis and his buns straight out, and BellyBean seems to be doing a repeat performance (BooBah carried much closer to my spine). Hopefully the labor will be much, much, MUCH easier...

I'm quite shocked that I'm so close to the third trimester, I just can't believe it. It's going very, very quickly. I washed the carseat and straps and have it ready to be installed in the car; just as soon as Mike puts the back row back into the van, I'll be moving BeanBean (he'll be forward facing and BellyBean's seat will go where his is now. I've got to do it *soon*, before the belly is big enough that I can't. I'm so reluctant to turn BeanBean around, but he's a big boy and it's got to be done... Ah, well. C'est la vie!

This baby isn't super active, but I'm pretty sure is going between vertex and slightly transverse.

Last night I rubbed Shea butter on my belly. The baby LOVES it! Every time I would stop, I'd put my hands on the sides of my belly, and the kiddo would promptly kick in the middle. DH and I sat there watching him kicking for probably half an hour. I love that the kicks are stronger now. It gives me confidence that his muscles are developing well.
It's a lot of fun! I'm glad DH can finally see and feel without doubt that he's got a li'l one growing in his wifey.

Could someone please explain what these words mean? I expect one is sideways and the other up-and-down, but as a newbie, I'm a little in the dark on that one!
and when do babies need to turn by? usually turn by for birth?

My babe seems to be all over the map and although I usually feel the kicks in my sides, I also feel them sometimes in the highest areas of my uterus, and am surprised it goes that high now! Every 3rd day or so seems to be an 'active' day, and then a quiet and then a semi-active day.
