Ummmmm ok, tutorials would greatly help. I had no idea that I may have needed to change my needle to a diff size b4 sewing it. The diaps worked great after washing and drying on hot. I used a size 14 needle, what should I have used?

PUL Needle Size?

As far as I know, size 14 is the correct size. I can't remember at the moment whether it is ball point or all purpose though. I'm sure someone else will post the exact info though. I have sewn all of my PUL with a 14 - the same type and size I use for almost all of my other sewing.

I'm thinking it depends on what you're sewing the PUL to? If it's heavy fabrics, you'll need a 14. If not, you might get away with an 11. I typically use a 14 though.
Most people use either ballpoint or universal, and which one you need depends on what your machine likes.
Mine is fine with a ballpoint, but some machines only sew it with a universal.

my machine likes 11 for sewing the side seams and demands a 14 for aplix through the pul) I haven't tried ball point yet. You'll always have to wash and dry on hot, as long as they work, your using the right needlr LOL!

11 or 14 universal here. The ballpoint makes the tension a bit wonky.
Play around and see what works best with some scraps. If you haven't had any problems so far, you're probably fine with what you have!
Don't forget to change your needle regularly so that it stays sharp. (I think it's every 4 hours that you change it... that's 4 hours of the needle going up and down obviously! but it might be every 6 hours. I'm getting confused with how often I'm supposed to get my hockey skates sharpened!

I always use a 14, unless I'm sewing something thick. Like when I do terry inners and fleece outer, it tends to get quite thick and sometimes my thread doesn't catch so then I switch to a 16 or 18. I might actually start sewing with a 16 because my machine is giving me less problems when sewing aplix with it. Whereas when I use a 14 for aplix the thread breaks or doesn't catch so often that I want to chuck my sewing machine across the room
If I wasn't on bedrest!!!.
Edited because I'm a bad speller when I type fast
