April Baby Shower Themes

Hi Mommies, I just need some views on what would be good baby shower themes for an April baby (due one day before Easter)? I'm thinking maybe about having an Easter Egg theme where the invitation is located in a fake plastic egg and hand them out to my co-workers and family.

Should Easter basket's be used in the decoration process and What kind of baby shower themed cakes?

My sister and cousin are in charge but they aren't really creative in their ideas.

I love the idea about the easter egg. It is a holiday named after a fertility goddess, so I think it's fitting.

I also think ducks would be cute, for april showers. But I just like ducks anyways.

This isn't specific to the April theme (though you could have it be April Showers too -- a play on words and have it be bath focused or something if you want -- but I like the Easter notion), anyway but I love this suggestion inspired from Birthing from Within:

Have a basket of candles at the door and a list to sign for guests -- as they leave the shower, they take a candle and sign their name and phone number on the list. Then when Mama goes into labor, the hostess (or someone else) calls everyone on the list and they light their candles so that they are sending Mama good thoughts, prayers, energy, etc., during labor. The only caveat is warn them their phone might ring at 3:00am hehe.

Anyway, good luck with your shower theme. I just love that candle idea so much I had to pass it on.

I just wanted to add to this- we're going to be doing this for my cousin and for me! My cousin will be birthing at a hospital so we got her a flameless (battery run) candle (it still looks really cool) so that she can light it in labor too. When she looks at it while in labor, she'll know that all the people who love her are thinking of her.

To me its a nice way to still feel a connection to those friends and family who can't be with her at the birth.

Some family members also opted for flameless candles (not me, I like the real thing), so they can light their candle and go back to bed without worry

For my shower, my sister told me she got some sort of wax candle making set, so each person can make her own candle at the shower. They will all then somehow contribute to my candle too, so that my candle is made by those who love me. I will also light it in labor (birthing at home so flame is good!)
