Lazy Latch

My son has developed a VERY poor latch all the sudden! I feel like I have a newborn again. It is crazy. I am sooo sore, and have a small crack. I don't know how to get him to nurse "normal" again. I have tried telling him to open big, mimicing with a wide open mouth. But, he justs keeps slurping my nipple in. What to I do??? He is 20 months and seems to think I am just being silly. Has anyone else has this problem? He seems to do better when he is tired. BUT terrible during the day. It also doesn't help when he refuses to just relax.He climbs all over me while holding on to the nipple. Boys... they never take me seriously. Can anyone help??

The short answer is: if he refuses to latch on properly, or have good nursing manners in general, stop the feeding session. You deserve respect. Insist on good latch, explain how you are getting hurt, and it is his fault.
