Old Jeans? Other good fabrics?

Does anyone ever use old jeans to make diapers (I'm guessing for soakers)? I read a link on diaper hyena that said it's the best

I got a sewing machine for Christmas : so I'm looking into the best fabrics to start out with. I figure I'll start with fitteds and see how it goes from there. I'm thinking flannel, hemp/cotton blends, and microfleece. I know there are tons of threads about this already, sorry :

Hmmm, I've seen a few diapers made out of jeans where the outer layer was the blue jean denim but I'm not sure about using it as the soaker, I'm very curious now. Can you post the link that says they are good as soakers? BTW, my dd and your dd have the same birthday but my dd was born 7.12.04.

Fern and Faerie makes fitteds out of recycled jeans. I've heard great things about them, but have tried it. Between DH and I we have a few old pairs laying around, maybe I should test it out!

I love the Fern & Faerie Recycle Diapers; I've been looking everywhere for someone who makes them for sale/trade but had no luck. They're super cute, though, take a look! And if you happen to run across a WAHM who makes them for sale/trade, please let me know!

since you asked about other fabrics...

my dh goes through a lot of t shirts. he wears them as undershirts under his shank vest which seems to wear them out pretty quickly. when they get ratty looking i cut the front and back out and fold them up four times to make doublers. i get two doublers from each shirt. they are very soft and no worries if they are too hard to clean--i just toss them guilt free since they were already recycled.

i'm no help on the jeans but it looks like you got that one covered already .
