Does Wool-Ease Work?

Does Wool-Ease make a good wool diaper cover for night-time? If yes, what would be the best way to lanolize it?

Wool-ease works great, but you don't lanolize it. It is 20% wool and 80% acrylic if I am correct. You just have to wash it more like fleece. It is a great moisture barrier, but it does not absorb any liquid and it will start to smell like pee after a few days.

But the trade off is you can machine wash and dry it and it is inexpensive. I have 2 pair of longies made of this and they work great.

Hey! I was coming on this forum to ask that very same question! Thanks for having it (and the answer!) waiting for me!!!

So do you know if crocheting a cover would be OK or would urine leak between the stitches? Knitting usually makes tighter stitches, but I can't knit.

i have a few covers crocheted with woolease that we used on our newborn with no problems. he isn't a super soaker though, if that makes any difference.

My longies (actually I have 3 with Wool-ease!) are crocheted my Mom and Grandma with the dandelion dreamer pattern and they work great. I have some knit longies also and I prefer the crochet. The crochet is a bit thicker and holds pee better. The knit is more stretchy, which is nice, but it gets damp on the outside faster.

Crocheted longies are absolutely great, even in acrylic.

This is my experience as well. The knitted ones have to be double knitted ot hold my DS overnight.

I lanolinize my wool-ease cover & I would have said no, not for night. Though, I can imagine that if it was crocheted or double knit that it might work. Thanks Mamas. Something to think about...

The chunky wool-ease is, I believe, 50% wool and 50% acrylic. I've always wanted to try it but been nervous about it... now I'm going to have to talk someone into getting me some.
