I think the spending spree I go on in december really does affect how I feel in January.

Besides feeling broke.

But it does add to it, doesn't it. My dh is laid off about this time every year. The holidays would be much more convenient in October, if you ask me. I try to shop early, but what to buy....and for whom???? I get confused and it just waits till the end.

I didn't pay the lights or phone this month. Oh, or the whopping car insurance bill we got.

Keep those "good things about winter..." thoughts coming!

I love Christmas lights. And hot chocolate. And sweatshirts.

There! I added something positive!

Subbing...
I think I should un-subscribe. My best friend died the 27th. I flew to the east coast with baby and dh yesterday and the funeral is tomorrow. I am sad beyond words, beyond seasonal sadness. There is nothing right about a beautiful 30 year old dying. Thanks anyways, you guys, and I hope you all remain positive through this season...

See what happens when you ask nice-like? This thread got a brief repreive in TAO!

So, if you suffer from either depression or SAD, come join us for some support!

Ok, I'm noticing Cocoa to be a big Cheer-er-upper. I'm about to make a very dangerous deal. I'll go find some yummy cocoa mix recipes, make some up (next week!) and mail enough for a few cups to ANYONE who'd like some! If my PM box gets full, just email me your IRL addy.

Then, one afternoon, when you're feeling down, *POOF* have a cup of my magnificent cocoa, and you're well!

What the heck, it'll be fun!

Yep, I'm serious.

I'm so sorry Dove!!!!
May you be a source of peace for her family.

And I've never seen a thread get put BACK where it was moved from!

A&A, I politely PM'ed a mod, asked for a temporary reprieve, based on the good of all, and it was granted by the Thread Fairies!

We'll only be here a few days, then back to Health and Healing.

oetien, PM me your IRL addy. I'm finding a recipe now! (And I promise, I'm not a stalker. All my info is linked in my siggy. I just feel like spreading some joy! )

oldermamato5, YES, the sun WILL shine again. (but it may be awhile!)

We have lot of ice right now. I'm actually looking forward to some regualr snow! Isn't it prettty first thing in the morning whenit's snowed?

I'm back to looking for that recipe!

It's been raining/hailing here for the last week or so, which is really odd/depressing to me because I've lived in this state all of my life, and I'm used to SNOW in the winter! Global warming, anyone?

Well, thank you Irish...and Red, I'd *love* some good cocoa...

I haven't been on much today, my body decided last night to get that nasty stomach bug that's been going around, and after being up allllll night puking, I still had to get up and take care of the kiddos all day. . Let's just say it was *not* my best parenting day.

I've been thinking a lot about the guilt lately...I feel guilty because I spoke harshly (okay, I yelled) at ds, so I feel badly, then I'm focusing on what I did wrong, and I don't respond when dd asks for something, or I don't feel like getting down and playing or doing a puzzle, and then I feel even worse, because I'm a terrible mom who spent a whole day not PLAYING with her kids and so then I don't sleep (because of other issues and it is getting better) but then I'm grumpy and so I don't make them a proper breakfast and so they are grumpy and I lose my temper again...and it's this horrible, horrible cycle. I need to figure out how to break that cycle before it begins, when that first guilt hits. Why is it that I can forgive others sooo easily, but just cannot forgive myself? Why can I tell another mom, "It's okay, you're human, you made a mistake." but I can't tell myself the same thing?

Well, not to over-simplify, but could you offer yourself amnesty as of, say....

Oh, I don't know.....

Midnight tonight?

I mean start tomorrow the way you want. If you screw up, then you HAVE to spend 1/2 hour playing with kids on floor.

Have a good day, give yourself a star! (Why not?!)10 stars gets.....a long hot bath, with candles and the radio and a cup of......hot cocoa!!!!!!(I'd have a glass of wine myself! )

Eh? Proper breakfast? Cut yourself a break, will ya? Give 'em a glass of juice or a piece of fruit and some whole grain cereal. Or boil some water, pour it over instant oameal. That IS a proper breakfast.

Uh, could you get some balloons? Or bubbles? Next time you feel like loosing it, try blowing some up. Bet you all feel better!
