Just curious what others feel when referred to as "preggo." My in-laws like to say that, which maybe is why I feel that it is derrogatory. Looking for other opinions....

preggo

I don't really care for it, but my husband likes to use it, and when he says it it sounds cute, but when other people say it it just sounds obnoxious. I've gotten used to it now that this'll be our third baby, and I've occasionally used the term, but I wish there were other nicknames out there I preferred.

I've heard it my whole life. Never thought about it being offensive, guess I'm just used to it. I guess it is sort of tacky. But I doubt I would ever get upset over it.

I cannot stand it.

Wow! I'm so surprised by the responses. I love the term and use it quite a bit! :

wouldn't call it offensive or derogatory, but it is annoying to me and definitely not my choice of words!

I prefer having a "bun in the oven."

I'm an Aussie, and before I throw something on the barbie, I look around at the kidlets to check they aren't going troppo kicking the footy around, Then I chuck a coldie to Bazza, who's married to Shazza, they drive a Merc and she's preggo right now.
I think it's just a short-cut. I'm waaaay less laid-back than a lot of Aussie's, but I wouldn't be offended if someone called me "preggo". I like the term "up the duff" I've heard another saying, for when asking if the baby has been born yet: "have you dropped that sprog yet??" Offensive to some, funny to others. I think it's about how seriously you take yourself. Taking yourself seriously can be good, I'm sure.... For me (and I re-iterate: this is most likely because of the different culture I come from) I try not to take myself too seriously. Gotta have a laugh, y'know?

I don't think it's offensive but I hate it. Even worse is "preggers". Argh. I don't know why people need a term, can't they just use "pregnant"?

I think it depends on the context, but i usually dont like it.

Me too! I call myself preggo all the time. But then again, I'm the only one who uses the term, maybe that's why it doesn't bother me.
