... then read the thread about Zoloft side effects and now I'm freaking out!!!!!

Panic attacks, dizziness, nausea, diarrhea, insomnia, skin on fire, cold sweats.... OMG! Is this what I'm letting myself in for? It sounds much worse than what I'm already experiencing! I feel like crying. And if I DO experience these things, I can't just stop taking the Zoloft, can I? I feel so scared now.

I took zoloft for a total of 20 months and never had any of the side effects. The great thing about zoloft is u can stop it cold turkey at any time (tho I recommend slowly weaning off any med like that) without to much trouble generally. If you r suffering these effects already before taking the med. then usually it will stop them. I think u run into the side effect problems more if u dont already have them.

If u do start to have the side effects then slowly wean off the med. and get the dr to prescribe a new one. I went off zoloft and onto serzone because zoloft took my sex drive away I took both while nursing my dd and she had no problems at all and I took zoloft with ds and he had no problems.

Most meds. can and do have side effects that they have to tell u about but I would guess that most people have no trouble at all with them just keep a watchfull eye out and try not to freak so much, the benifits of zoloft with ppd for me far out weighed to possible side effects.

Um, I don't think you can...at least not after taking it for more than a week or so. I have several degrees in psychology, as well as coursework in psychopharmacology and you should never ever stop an antidepressant cold turkey...zoloft is no exception. Going cold turkey can cause extreme anxiety, agitation, "brain zaps", insomnia, etc...those things tend to be lessened by a gradual weaning...

CityGirl... : Most likely, if you are going to have any of the nasty side effects, it will be within the first week or so (mine were so bad that I had to stop them after a day, but it turns out I have a medication sensitivity). The pharma companies are required to list all potential side effects, even really rare ones. Heck, even motrin has some scary side effects listed in the prescribing sheet (hallucinations, arrythmias, renal failure, congestive heart failure, meningitis, coma, etc.), but few people would think twice about popping a motrin for a headache. I know the side effects are scary, but if you really need to take it, I would just be aware of the side effects and report them if you get them, but otherwise just assume that for the most part, they're written there for liability's sake...

The first one is the hardest! I had my pills for 3 days before getting up the courage to take one!

I had a bit of dizziness at first, but that may have been due to serious lack of sleep. No other side effects. I took Zoloft for 6 months then another month to wean off of it. No problems there either.

Momma im sorry to hear this. That is the reason i stoped zoloft. Because i had ever know affect know to man. Being dizzy, sick at the stomach, chest pain. fainting spells. I freaked out so baby that i ran out the house at the time and left my 2month old in the house alone. That was a scary thought and i wasent even own it that long. Also when i completly stoped taking it i had some of the worst withdrawl simptoms. I hope it gets better for you tho. My doc also had me on ativan and man that was just as baby when i came off that. i had to go into the hospital. Thats why for me i decided todeal with my ppd and use natural rememdies. I hope it gets better for you.
