We had a little girl on Saturday! Her name is Barrett and she is absolutely adorable. She was 4 weeks early, but everything was fine.
Here's the condensed birth story:
I had been having mild-ish contractions since late Friday night, and they finally picked up by lunchtime on Saturday. At around 3 we decided it was time to go to the hospital since I was pretty uncomfortable by that time. I kept telling myself it was just gentle pressure and to trust my body and it really helped me thru each contraction. When we got to the hospital I was checked and I was 7 cm. My DH was an awesome labor coach and we used some of the Bradley techniques we learned when I was pregnant with my son. I moved positions a few times which also really helped with the pain. I started to feel a lot of pressure and asked to be checked again, and I was complete. I squatted during most of the pushing (they had a squatting bar and I also leaned on the back of the bed), and about 5 minutes before she was born I asked for the MW to break my water to help things along. I pushed for about 15 minutes. When she came out I sat back a little and pulled her out and up onto my chest. It was so awesome being the first one to ever touch her.
She's very tiny, only 5 pounds 13 oz. but is doing great. I feel really great too. A lot better than after I did with my son, and that was a much shorter labor. I can tell that my milk is starting to come in, so hopefully I can quickly put some weight on her.
