Exploring Gentle Discipline - Page 2

Rootz, I don't really have much to add buy I wanted to say thank you for bringing to light some of my issues/concerns around GD as a African-American woman. I'll will be upfront and say that when ds was smaller (he's turning 14 in a few weeks) I did not always practice GD now with dd I am interested in learning GD but have many of the same issues you mentioned.

FroNuff, you bring up some really relavant issues as well that many of us are hanging onto outdated thinking yet as the mother of a young black man, I sometimes in my soul don't feel that we are that free. I fear for my baby at times in that what I have taught him to feel free to express himself but wonder if a day will come when it will backfire.

In any event, this a discussion that is needed so I def will be coming back later- gotta head out soon.
