My dd1 is 9 1/2 years old so your thread title got me. She is..... 53 pounds too! She is short for her class, but also one of the very youngest with a later summer birthday. She is very thin but doesn't look sickly or anything. And that kid can pack away the food! Just has the metabolism of a hummingbird. Yeah, I did too at that age; I remember wearing slims. Nothing that puberty won't fix!

It is hard to find pants for her. In skirts she can wear a six or a seven. In pants, we need a 10 slim that cinches. I love adjustable waist pants!!! My dd1 grows out of shorts or skirts and dd2 can fit right into them - and they are four years apart in age! Dd1 is just a skinny minnie. It is just her build and metabolism right now. I wouldn't worry at all.

My oldest girl just turned 10. She is 4 ft 2, and about 55#. We are veg, so I do assume that she is not huge and overly developed due to that. She is healthy, and wears about a 7/8 and is JUST getting her permanent teeth in the front! She is dentally 7 according to our dentist, who was not concerned at all and chalked it up to veggie foods ( no hormones, meats, excessive fats.)

My 5 year old looks like she will be on the same path, she is a bit more athletically built, but still a bit shorter and smaller than her peers.

I was the same way, so there is genetic influences as well.
