Vitex??

How often and what dosage should I take this for a short luteal phase? And on what days, if not all?

I hava a short luteal phase and I am tired of feeling terrible during the last half of my cycle. My doctor has me on Clomid 100mg to help fix that, but I am wondering if Vitex wouldn't help, too.

I have the tincture.

Thanks,
Kim

I took Femaprin vitex (vitamin/pill form) once a day every day. It is what finally got me ovulating and helped my cycle so we could finally conceive! Don't know much about the ?tincture? though. Good luck!

I personally wouldnt mix vitex w/clomid because both affect hormones . I have used both in the past at different times . As for the dose of vitex I would just take what is listed on the bottle and personally I took vitex after Ovulation only because it helps make progesterone production higher. If you get pg while taking it . It wont hurt anything as long as it is not taken in the last trimester of pg. vitex has been shown to actually reduce the risk of m/c when you have low progesterone issues. U can of course go off it when u get a + but I would strongly advise getting a progesterone test along with a beta to make sure your progesterone levels r high enough. That is what I did with my last pg I took the vitex till I was around 5 weeks and had the blood work done my progesterone was very low only 8.9 when it should have been well over 20.

Thanks. So maybe I should just wait and see if the Clomid straightens me out? Will Clomid have a lasting effect on a short luteal phase, or only in the cycle that it is used?

I had a short luteal phase 7 years ago. I did Provera, then Clomid. I did end up getting pregnant after the meds were done, though. And then I had two pregnancies after that, both were natural child spacing.

depending on what is causing the lp defect clomid could very well "jump start" your body into making the proper amount of progesterone when you come off the clomid.

In my experiance it got me going again and then i got pg both times on my own. good luck fingers xxxed for you

MCatLvrMoMof2, if you're still subbed to this thread -- I am looking for info on vitex and so did a search on it in this forum, and you seem to pop up all the time with authoritative answers. Do you happen to have any links, etc., that I can take a look at? I haven't had too much success.
