rock salt patterns with fibre reactive dyes

Was wondering if anyone knows a method for using rock salt with fibre reactive dyes? I've had success with kingfisher heat set silk dye, sprinkled with rock salt and wet down - the salt draws the dye to it, leaving a dark spot with lighter streaks around it. All my attempts with fibre reactive dye so far have totally bombed and I haven't been able to find any websites with a method on it either. Anyone know what I can try??

Thanks

I have yet to try it(did kosher salt once...total failure). I think the problem , other than the size of the salt grain, was I tried to batch cure it(sit for 24 hours wrapped) rather than steam it.

Do you subscribe to the DyersList? Great resource of novice and professional dyers/fiber artists. Also, I remember reading about it either in Elin Nobles Dyes and Paints or maybe it was Carolyn Dahl's Transforming Fabric.

Another resource is the forum the Paula Burch just started to fill the void left by the closing of Micheal Fowler's Fiber-Arts.com forum.

Hope that helps

Oh gosh that totaly HELPS I usually have limited trouble googling what I need but apart from Paula Burch's site have yet to find anything like that and was despairing about my search abilities - didn't know she had a forum and didn't think to look for a mailing list being somewhat fixated on forums hehe. Appreciate it
