Anyone with BAD morning sickness in previous pregnancies?

I'm so scared. The one thing that was keeping us from having another baby was the fact the I had hyperemesis with both pervious pregnancies. I know everyone says each pregnancy is different, but after having gone through that twice I just can't imagine a "normal" pregnancy. I saw my mw today because she wanted to discuss my concerns. She suggested a lot of natural remedies and I am going to give each one of them a shot if I do happen to get sick.

I'm just wondering if anyone else has been really sick before and if you are scared this time around. Also, has anyone had it with one or more pregnancies but not with another pregnancy? Any suggestions for treatment?

I didn't have trouble w/ morning sickness, but I can totally identify, for 2 reasons.

1) Throwing up is one of my biggest fears. To me that's the absolute worst kind of sick. I'd take sitting on the toilet over knealing in front of it any day. That's the only thing I was afriad of when I found out I was pg w/ dd and then as labor approached. Our childbirth educator had told us that, when she worked as a labor & deliver nurse, sometimes the only way they knew a mom was in transition was that she would throw up. I did, right after the m/w broke my water, but it wasn't nearly as bad as I had imagined. I'm still not looking forward to the possibility w/ this little one, but at least I know what to expect, and I can move through it as preparedly as possible.

2) I had an absolutely awful 1st tri w/ dd. I've talked about it in a couple of other posts, which you may or may not have read, so I'll give a quick summary. My doc pulled me off my meds cold turkey as soon as we got the +, and I got really depressed and stopped eating. By the time I saw the m/w for the 1st time, I had lost 20 lbs and hadn't eaten in 2 days. I got back on my meds, we got everything back on track, and dd was born very healthy and happy, but it was pretty scary there for a while. I've been very nervous about going through the same thing w/ this one, especially since dh is only home on the weekends this time around. It's better so far; no one's tried to take me off the meds, for one. But I'm still not eating like I should. But maybe that will change soon...

I don't think there's really much advice I can give. I think you're doing everything you can. Being proactive about it is the best thing. And it sounds like you've got lots of options if anything happens. Just know that we're all here for you, and it will all be worth it when you hold that little baby in your arms.

I actually have a friend who had horrible morning sickness for almost her entire first pregnancy, she just gave birth to her second and had virtually none for that pregnancy (or the one before it, she had a miscarriage between unfortunately).

Anti-ms vibes for you!

Hopefully the third time's the charm!

My first pregnancy was nonstop nausea from about 5 days in up until 37 weeks. Night and day.

I'm five weeks along and nothing. Not a peep. Hope it stays that way!
