I don't know where to ask about it so I will try here.
Maybe somone will be able to help.
I have very high prolactine level so my doctor prescribed bromo (bromocroptine). I am wandering if somone has any experience with it?
I would prefer to try more natural way but I think I will try it to see maybe this will help.

Have you had an MRI? Do you have a pitutary adenoma?

More info...are you nursing, postpartum, TTC, etc.

Docs think I have a small adenoma, but aren't sure if I need meds just yet.

I did not have an MRI. Also I don't know whether I have pitutary adonema. The only tests that were done is for the prolactine.

I don't nurse and no postpartum, TTC. I just have problem with prolactine

How high is your prolactin? Do you have any symptoms? Like menstral irregularity? Are you producing milk?

Sounds like you most likely have an adenoma - the bromo will help, and most likely you can be on it for a short period of time, get pg (this would certainly keep you from conceiving - I assume this is your goal since you posted on this board), and then go off. Depending on how large the adenoma is, you might have to stay on it throughout pregnancy.

At least that was how it was told to me. I am not sure if you'd have to go back on it, or stay on it while pg - only speaking from my experience. But, if I was in your shoes, I would want an MRI to really see what is going on.

But, if you arent showing any signs or TTC, I would probably just leave it alone. Small ones dont usually grow bigger, and many women have them, but just dont know.

I don't have my period at all and I am producing a little bit of milk.
My prolactine is 41 so my doctor said no MRI because when it is under 50 they don't worry so much.
He prescribe bromo for 2 months and he things that this should regulate things for me. I had a baby a year ago so I am not planning another one for a short while but I would like to have my hormones regulated

I also have a high prolactin level (48). I had an mri years ago because of it but it came out neg. They gave me dostinex instead of bromocriptine because it has less side effects. I got AF 28 days from taking the first pill. so it worked right away.

vicky I was wondering how often you have to take your bromocriptine?

I've been on bromocriptine for a couple months now. Prolactin was 31, had an MRI and no tumor. Bromocriptine is nasty. It makes me quesy and abdominal distress. If I forget to take it, I feel worse.

Hi, Just wanted to say that I haven't had a child yet, but did have a prolactin secreting adenoma 4 years ago. I was given high doses of bromo, and was fortunate not to have nausea at all. My prolactin level was at 256, so kinda high (it's supposed to be lower than 20). I did have a tumor, but it shrank right away from 2cm down to nothing in less than 6 months with the meds. Now I take a small dose daily and we will be TTC next month. The docs say that I'll have to take it till I get the pregnancy confirmed, then I'll start weaning myself off of it until I get to 12 weeks pregnant, and hopefully by then I'll be off it all together, but if my tumor returns, I'll have to go back on it.
It can cause infertility, no period, breast milk, headaches/migranes, and weight gain.
Good luck to you. I hope the bromo works for you! (BTW, dostinex is not approved for pregnancy, my doc was going to switch me to it, but when I told her that we would be TTC soon, she said NOPE! )
