OK, now I think the american dwight character is waaaay funnier than the gareth character from the UK version. I think dwight acts much more desperate and tries harder to please than gareth. Anyway, this show is so funny, I always get excited when I see it pop up on our tivo schedule. I want to get it on dvd.

Yep, I haven't seen the british, but I'd guess if anyone was more amusing, it's dwight. I enjoy him by far the most - for some reason it's more painful to watch michael.

1) I think the "others" are actually the employees of Oceanic
Airlines. Who has ever heard of Oceanic Airlines! I think it was a
fake airline that purposefully crashes and does experiments on it’s
passengers.

2) I think that the Dharma Initiative would make a cool band name.

3) I think the polar bears are actually hippies from the Dharma
Institute in polar bear outfits.

4) I think the asian guy from the Dharma film is the Korean guy’s
dad. Think about it. They’re BOTH asian.

I think I like Jim best..He's funny and sarcastic and there is an air of quiet desperation about him because he hates his job so much and is in love with Pam..I'm glad Pam found out about his crush...Gotta break up that wedding somehow!!

And Michael is just the biggest goober on the planet..Fixing his hair to be like Jim's..Ooy..Funny show!

We're going to get the British version from Netflix..I can't wait!

I disagree - I think the US version is much funnier. Rickie Gervais although brilliant as the boss was just too disturbing, he made me uncomfortable watching it! I like Steve Carrell, because he's just a bit over teh top ridiculous, rather than creepy like Gervais was.

We are big Steve Carrell fans and we've been following him for years on the Daily show wondering WHY he was still just a correspondent there and hadn't been put on SNL or something!! I'm so glad the office has taken off and his career too. I found out watching either him or Will Ferrell on a talk show that they both auditioned for SNL the same day and they picked Will Ferrell - they should have taken them both!

I didn't see the cruise one, but I saw the Pam/ Jim crush one and most of the last season. This show is a lot of fun and I agree, a little less disturbing than the English one, which is also a wonderful series . I haven't seen the English version for a while though. Now I need to catch a repeat of the cruise episode, it sounds hilarious.

I agree though I haven't seen the Brit version yet. You can almost have a tiny bit of sympathy for Steve Carell's character. That's why I think he is so good at it because it's hard to get that thin line just right.

We really love him too and are huge Daily Show fans. Have you seen The 40-Year-Old Virgin yet? Man, that was great movie!

I DO NOT watch tv, but I watch The Office religiously!!! When Dwight crashed his car and jumped out and puked - I can't even remember the last time I laughed so hard... It was probably the funniest thing I have ever seen in my life...

i have a crush on steve carrell. big time. :

so, i read something about the office going 'off' in march so that he can film a movie. PLEASE tell me not going off the air forever!?! *panicstricken*
hopefully just off until the fall season starts things back up...

I read that too. I am hoping since they had the good sense to move it to Thursday nights, they will not cancel it. It would be devastating if that went off the air.

I really doubt its going off - they hardly even had a 'must see tv' thursday line up until they moved earl & the office over and they are losing will and grace, they'd be idiots to dump the office for some untried new show.

My favorite character is Jim. I feel so bad for him, having to deal with all these wackos, totally in love with Pam but can't do anything about it. I totally want to give him a hug every time he looks at the camera like 'please save me!'. heh

Actually, in a perverse way I think Jim gets a bit of a kick out of it. I mean, he and Pam have SO much fun with all the idiots. The one who is truly in hell is Ryan (is that his name? the newer guy I think?) Shoot - what was that funny line from him? I think it was last week when they were doing office cleanup, and he said "I could clean out my desk in 30 seconds and it would look like I was never here....." and then something like "And I'd forget I ever was." It was so funny - he is just so hating it.

Oh, ITA with you. Poor Ryan. For a while, I kept thinking he was an intern, b/c he was doing so much scut work for Michael. He's actually a temp, I think. For ryan, I felt the worst for him during the christmas gift exchange, lol. Micheal pretty much forces him to be his friend too. Poor guy. However, hands down dwight is still my favorite character, he's just such a big dork/nerd.

Edited to add that I too think it would be STUPID move for NBC to put this show on hold. It's like their best show right now, since they are trying to re-build their must-see thursday tv again. NBC hasn't been able to recover since they ended the, "friends" series.

Yeah Ryan is a temp..And I think he's in the most pain there..Although I don't know..At least he can leave..Jim is stuck there, you know?? And I know he gets a kick out of everything..Putting Dwight's desk stuff in the vending machine? AWESOME!!

And I think the funniest moment was when Michael tried to put his foot into the cat scan machine..I almost cried I was laughing so hard!!

I'll use the spoiler tag so if anyone has it tivoed and hasn't watched yet...

Warning :: Spoiler Ahead! Highlight to read message!
The episode begins with Pam being on vacation, so Ryan is filling in for her - and he keeps finding Jim looking at him (where he would normally look at Pam). He says he isn't as creeped out by that as the way Michael looks at him and it pans over to Michael staring at him from inside his office. Hehehe.

Anyway, after Pam comes back, Michael comes into work and his office smells horrible - someone has left "something" on his rug. They have it cleaned up, but it still smells so the warehouse team has to replace the rug. Meanwhile, Michael sits at Jims desk and makes Jim sit back by Kelly, who talks constantly all day long. Michael keeps talking about how awful it was for someone to do this to him, how it was a hate crime and wants folks to fess up. Meanwhile he's reliving his days as a salesman on the floor by doing things like running over and throwing everyone in accounting's piles of paperwork on the floor.

Near the end of hte day, he gets a call from that jerk salesman guy - the one who tells the REALLY innappropriate jokes, etc and he says that he left the "present". Suddenly Michael of course thinks that its hillarious and says things like it was an act of 'love', etc.

The whole show, Jim is kinda lost because he can't go talk to Pam, since Roy is up in the office replacing the carpet and is always around and he doesn't want to go listen to Kelly blather. The sweetest part was at the end, Jim gets back to his desk after everyone had left and Pam has left him 7 messages saying things like how she had to move her monitor so she wouldn't see Michael at his desk and what was the word they invented for having something in your shoe?, she's leaving early, then from her cell phone, etc.
