I am now getting stuff on the TP and ebaying! At least I can make a few bucks to support my cloth diaper habit!

Well, I went through the 'to file' paperwork pile tonight. Got 20 items there. And 18 items went to the thrift store box yesterday (books and clothes). Last week I posted 12 items on freecycle. So, that brings me to an even 50.

I've got to clean the bathroom tonight, but I don't forsee a great number of things to throw out there.

I did make a box of baby clothes to sell, but I'm actually going to wait until I sell them to count them.

Well, at first DH was annoyed with my purging but then he decided to join in on the fun and helped me tackle the biggest clutter hole in the entire house...the canning closet. It went from a disaster area to a perfectly neat and clean closet with plenty of available shelf and floor space. I am now up to 346 items gone and I can thank that closet for my total.

Wow! I'm impressed. I managed to weed out another measly 17 items today (mostly clothes), bringing me to 53.

I did also buy some fabric today to make new bedroom curtains. : I don't need to deduct that from my total, do I?

I am in also!!

I have a moving box of clothes waiting to go to a shelter or freecycle. Just need to reorganize garage from putting away xmas stuff and I will tackle the rest of my house!

YAY!!!

I wonder how long it will take me to count the crap in the boxes in the garage?
LOL

I got rid of 11 items yesterday. Today, I managed the following:

* 65 items in trash/recycling (cleaned out the bathroom cabinets, wire hangers from the closet, a few items from the fridge, etc.)
* 19 items (old bath towels, dh clothing, a few toys) donated to Goodwill- I drove them there right away!
* My husband donated his change jar to ds- we took it to a coin counting machine, then ds took the proceeds to the bank. About a zillion coins, but I'll count the whole jar as 1 item.
* A grocery bag full of misc. papers, catalogs, magazines, etc. (I'll count it as 4 items so it will bring me to 100!)

I have 5 items "pending"- I am giving them away and waiting for someone to pick them up Monday.

I have a big pile of toys and clothes I need to sell but I'll count those as I sell them.

Thanks for all the inspiration! The numerical goal is really motivating to me!

Ok i'm in for another update!!!
I managed to attack most of my kitchen today even though the 6 kids in my house managed to make more work for me in the kids bed rooms!!!

Cleaned out the fridge/freezer/deep freeze got rid of 35 items mostly feed the stuff to my outside dog (she was in heaven LOL) or trashed the old stuff.
My snack/cooking good cabnits got rid of 16 items
Storage cabnit about 7 items when to the trash 10 items when home with my sil when she picked up the kids.
Cabnits around the my stove lost 8 items to my SIL also.
When i got the mail yesterday i went through it right when i got it insead of letting it pilll up somwhere so i threw out 6 paper items.
Old cleaning itesm, and old plant stuff 10 items
kitchen suplies that need to go to grandma 3 things in the car
here's a shocker tuperwear stuff (like old butter things cottage cheese ect) 28 items that i just don't need i mean how many left overs do i really need to have in my fridge... so out they went.
So grand total is 123 items plus the 60 from ealier that's 183....

Also something motivation i did was snaped some photos before i started with my cabnits open and stuff ... then when i was done took some more... i'll upload some at the end of the month maybe sooner if i have some extra time!!

oh my gawd, i've been cleaning for EIGHT hours straight. i really should sleep now.. but couldn't resist the urge to come in and update!

i worked on the 2nd bedroom (the dumping ground in our house) and i can't believe it actually echos in here now!!! i'm about 3/4 of the way through the 2nd bedroom and the cupboards are organised, the clutter is gone, the floor has been vacuumed - twice, and the papers and cards are all ready to be filed away.
i'm going to take some pictures tonight and hopefully post them tomorrow night. i don't know what my count is right now... i'm guessing around 150 at least? eight hours ago it was 70, so i'm doing good!

ok i'm off for the night!! keep up the good work ladies!

Does it count double if I get DH to declutter?

DH states he counted about 150 items in 1/2 the kitchen alone. And he's not done!! He went through the pantry, was able to get rid of some old pans (thanks to the MIN thread), and got rid of the "tupperware" cabinet. He also culled out his "cookbooks" and whatever fell out behind the refridgerator. And an old coffee pot! He won't tell me what else he threw out cuz I'll be upset with him, he says! LOL

Then I went through and tossed some old sippy cups and kiddy cups from the restaurants we used to go to and misc lids. I also went through the kids drawers and I have a big bag of clothes to go to my nephew and several boxes to go to my sisters. My nephews bag should go out this month however, my sisters I'm gonna have to keep for several months so I'm gonna need to find a place for it. I was able to throw out some items that were stained or not worth passing down (about 7 items) and an old tape and some garbage. I also started a box of toys and books for my sister and tossed some old/broken books/toys (about 5). Overall, I think we're at about 200 items at this point.

This is so fun!

wow what have I started? I wonder what the grand total will be on the 31st.

I am about 270 (give or take about 10).
Yesterday I took a laundry basket and went thru the play room. I went thru shelf after shelf and would empty out the storage container of whatever was in there and sort. I would dump anything not apprt for the box in the laudry basket or put it in its rightful place. I had empty playdoh cans, goody bag toys, little stuffed animals, anything into it. only got half way thru it

Then in private I sorted thru it. Some went into the good will bag, some in the garbage bag going, some back into a place for new baby coming. Others ready to sell on ebay etc. But a big bag went into the garbage. I am going to do it again tomorrow during school when dd is gone. Also I am going thru her dvds as well and our videos, what is left. There are a few kid dvds that she watched a few times and did not like so they will go on ebay or the tp.

Oh, I wish I'd signed on here Jan 1. I cleaned my son's room, and I'll bet I hit the 500 mark clearing his room alone.

But I'm here now, and boy do I need this kind of motivation. Today it's the Christmas crud..........but after that, look out : I may hit 500 the first hour tackling the junk drawerSSS. (Nearly all the drawers in our house serve as one.)

can I still sign up? I cleaned all day yesterday but didn't count anything. Oh well, I'm sure I can find another 500 things to get rid of this month......
Boy, you all are moving at lightening speed! I managed to find another 29 things today...toys, kitchen junk, books. For a whopping total of 82. Still an acceptable pace for 500 by the month's end, I think.

Lory You gonna mail those boxes???

If I join and you mail stuff to me...does that set me back????

My DH and I were run out of our house because of Mold on November 1st. We move back home January 13th. I'm gonna do my best, esp. since everything is displaced right now anyway, this'll be easy...I hope...

Another day of cleaning and another 124 items gone to bring my total up to 473! So close but I am just too tired to do anymore tonight. I will try to go over the 500 mark tomorrow.

Great job, everyone!

Amys1st- Thanks for starting this thread. I really needed the inspiration.

There was a pile of cardboard for recycling that has been sitting in the basement for weeks, so I'm just going to count that as 1. And the refridgerator cleaning gave us about 25 items. I'm sure it was more (YUCK), but I'll low-ball it. And I've sold one book on half.com, after a dry spell. Hooray!

Otherwise, I haven't purged anything today. Maybe I'll have better luck tomorrow.

Total 50 + 1 + 25 + 1 = 77
