Felting Rollcall

Hi-
Perhaps there is already a club or tribe for felting...if not, I would like to chat with all of the other mamas who felt or are interested. I am an American living in Germany (not affiliated with the military) and I started felting about a year ago. I am learning different methods of wet felting and I also like to embellish with needle felting.

I would like to exchange tips, photos, and project ideas.

I am wet felting impaired :P, but I really enjoy needle felting, although I'm quite new to it .

I'm studying felting right now (have a stack of books and doing lots and lots of online reading).

I ordered a drum carder and am in the process of assembling tools for felting.

Hopefully in the next few weeks I'll have my supplies ready and can begin the actual felting.

Once you begon felting what projects are you excited about doing? I have been experimenting with the various methods.....I have made hats, puppets, baby boots, bags, wallets, and jewelry.

Felter here..checking in!

I recently made a lightly needle felted, then wet felted scarf and took about a million photos to put on my web site as a tutorial. I don't see much info on the web that combines the two styles of felting (though I know people do use the technique), so I thought it would be a good idea as a teaching point.

Maybe I can get that done in the next week or so...

There's also a great, friendly felting community that shares info and techniques over at www.feltingforum.com if you haven't already been there. Check it out.

ETA...I got a drum carder for Christmas and have been using it like crazy to spin, but have yet to make any felting blends/batts with it. I guess that's next on my agenda!

My drum carder arrived in today's mail and I'm so excited to start using it. Didn't have a chance to use it tonight and tomorrow we're traveling to the state capital for a hearing on a midwife bill, but Friday I'm going to be carding away!

The first project I want to try is a beret. I think the second will be a matching scarf.

I have so many ideas for projects - toys for my DD, hats, scarves, slippers.

I also want to try needle felting and would LOVE to design dolls and toys for DD.
