We just decided to live someplace cheaper and close to family so I'd have more of a chance to be a SAHM. I won't say it's not as good, though, just different. We've lived in Austin for almost 8 years now. I love it except for the traffice and the cost of living. Everyone we know has to work so much to afford to live here that we NEVER get to see anybody. My entire social life is based on people we see at the park and the neighborhood coffee shop. We're too busy to enjoy the culture in general, but I do love the grocery stores and the eco-friendliness!
So, I'd vote for a small college town. (We're moving to Stillwater, OK, where we met and where my inlaws are.) We'll get lots of nature and still have the diversity and vibrance that a college town creates. I can't wait.
