steam cleaner - questions, thoughts?

Hi,

Don't know how well this relates to this forum, but we're looking into a steam cleaner. They're spendy, but seem well worth it. Cleans w/out cleaners, kills bacteria, viruses, mold and dust mites. Plus cleans up messy stuff and soap scum and things.

we're considering it for allergy reasons - killing nasties and avoiding noxious or smelly cleaners.

any thoughts?

Here's the one we're looking at:

it's $400, but some of the fancier ones run about $1200. Yikes. Maybe I'll go in on one with my mom.

I"m sorta curious about the dust mite thing, hubby says we could use it on our bed and pillows, but I think that would void the warranty on the bed; never get it wet. but he says it's barely wet and sucks all the water back out, so it doesn't soak it and doesn't require time to dry.

cheers,

Lori

I just received a very small hand held steamer for a Christmas gift. My girlfriend bought it from HSN. She got 2 units for like $40. I really like it! It's a Euro-Pro Shark. Maybe try something like that before shelling out all of that $? It certainly isn't for large jobs. I actually did my whole bathroom floor with one of the brush attachments it worked great, but my thumb was numb-ish & tingly for a couple days. I then applied a new coat of finish. You have to pump the triggar to get the steam. It is awesome for around the toilet, & sink. Intended for small jobs. Sorry I have no experience with the larger units.
