Dh the breastfeeding advocate :)

My dh came home from work yesterday and relayed this story to me. I was so excited and proud of him

He works as a Naval Officer Recruiter and yesterday a young lady came into his office hoping to apply. She is currently pg and want to defer until 12 months after her child is born so that she can breastfeed! My dh starts talking bfing up and how I did bf our son and will our dd. And, it such a great thing to do. Rattle off some stats that I've battered into his head. She was so receptive. He even asked if she'd been to LLL yet. And, she said no, but she'd heard of them. Dh told her to make sure to contact one of the local groups. because they're awesome and can provide so much support and help!

They even talked about her birth plan, and apparently she's going for a HB. So, we both really hope that will work out. They're a little tricky around here.

I just thought it was awesome that my dh took that bit of time to do a little advocacy on someone who seemed very receptive. I'm glad it's important to him too.

my DH does the same thing - talks about breastfeeding and advantages all the time. How cool. Hey, I live near a nascar speedway too - sorta. So where are you? Are we neighbors? I'm in FL

attached mama- We're in North Carolina. The speedway wouldn't really bother me, except that during the race weeks, traffic gets really bad and we can actually hear the racing cars from our house. And, we're not all that close. We're a few miles away. UGH!

I chose to ebf our son and my mother in law (nice woman but not terribly up to date on her baby stuff) kept pushing for me to supplement and put cereal in his bottle. My husband caught her feeding ds a banana at 2 1/2 mos and did an admirable job on getting her to stop. He was always very protective of my right to bf and it made me feel so supported and great.

Got her to stop pushing for things other than ebf, that is, not just feeding ds the banana. Although he did that, too.

My DH talks up bfing too to all his guy friends. However, his reasons for loving it is that now he sleeps through the night because I am the only one who can feed the baby when she is hungary (at the beginning when I had lots of trouble he would wake up with me and rub my back, or get me a glass of water if I wanted one, but now that things are going smoothly I let him sleep).

Great that your DH took that opportunity!!

Yeah, hubby! I love it when they become lactivists without even realizing it.

My hubby was speaking with his mom on the phone recently, she was asking him for suggestions to address our 2-year-old niece's digestive problems (MIL asks us nutritional stuff, and is primary caretaker of niece), and he told her, "Well, first of all, at 2 years old she should still be getting breastmilk."
