I have not had a chance to read all the posts above - just wanted to share my experience FWIW.
My DS was EBF. At about 5 months he started getting ear infections and he got one after another after another. We tried everything: traditional antibiotics, chinese herbal formulas, homeopathics, ear drops, etc. etc. Nothing really helped.
My DH and my brother both had chronic ear infections as children - both a combo of BF and FF. Both had 2 sets of tubes.
We ended up getting him tubes at about 7 months. He has a couple of ear infections after that but we were able to treat them with ear drops. He has not had an oral antibiotic since getting the tubes. *knock wood* The tubes allowed his ears to drain so things didn't get backed up in there to fester. Made a world of difference!
I am not sure what the real info is about whether or not FF kids get more. But I do know that this BF kid was not spared ear infections even though he was not getting formula...
