DS accident

On my due date on Saturday - my son ethan fell while wearing socks on our hardwood floors and trying to take off his jacket.

He hit his head and lost consciousness and stopped breathing. He was not breathing for about 30-45 seconds and was out longer - probably about 1.5 minutes. We called 911 - went to hospital in ambulance and he had to have a CT scan because they were worried about internal bleeding or a fracture. He is okay - his CT scan was normal. I stayed up last night sleeping by him and listening to his every breath and holding him.

I can not express in words how horrible this was. He is fine today - playing normal and I am so thankful for every minute. I thought I died when he was out - he is my whole world.

So needless to say - please moms --- do not let kids wear socks on slippery floors, brush up on your CPR, and love your little ones with all your might.

OMG... how scary! I'm glad that he's doing all right... how are you holding up?

Yikes! I'm glad everything turned out all right! My kids never wear socks period (except right now, my toddler insisted) and neither do I. Socks scare me. My MIL makes everyone put socks on at her house. Her floors are SLICK because she cleans and dusts and whatevers them waaaay too much (they're wood), you can see the shiney slickness. SCares me to pieces. Anyway... I'm just glad your little guy is okay! How scary for you!!! {{{hugs}}}}

I am so sorry for you and DS, Alicia. That sounds so frightening and just plain horrible. I was just thinking I need to brush up on my CPR skills. It's been too long. Thanks for the reminder. Hugs to your DS and you, too. Glad everyone is ok now.

Oh my! Hope everyone is recovering well from that trauma!

Kids find the darnedest ways to injure themselves. My brother broke a collar bone walking across carpeting once...

Oh no! That must have been so scary. I'm glad he's OK.

Oh boy, like you needed more excitment in your life right now? Hope Ethan is feeling better and that you're taking care of yourself as well.

How scarey! I've been needing to take another CPR class so this will definitely help to motivate me. I'm so happy he was okay.

So glad he's OK. That must've been terrifying.
We just bought a house w/ lots of unforgiving ceramic tile (and wood), scares me to death.
Take a deep breath, relax & get ready for no. 2!

Oh how horrible, I can't imagine. I am so glad he is ok.

We had wood floors in our last house, so I know EXACTLY how slippery they are!

I'm SO GLAD your little guy is okay and unharmed. That must have been just terrifying for you when it happened and in the hospital. My goodness! Hugs to you both.
