Does your toddler nurse more when it's cold?

I know this sounds crazy but my 16 mos old has increased her nursing in the last week. At first I wasn't sure what it was, but then I realized the increase was in the am when we got up and it was pretty cold before we got dressed OR when we came home from an errand. The temps have been in the single digits here the last week and I just wonder if she wants to snuggle more to keep warm. She's dressed warmly but nothing beats a good snuggle.
Just a thought, anyone else?

Makes sense to me. Oftentimes we eat more when it is cold. We also snuggle more when it is cold. Why would a toddler be any different. It's a great way to warm up!

Seems logical to me! Did you read the link in the 6 year old thread? I noticed that the Inuit (in the icy North) were among cultures who nursed the longest...7 years was not unusual in the 1950's, the article said. (Although India was also one of the longest and it's hot there...maybe in India they are thirstier! )

cold temps bring dehydration - skin gets very dry. So yeah, baby's thirsty.

Also - breastmilk has more fat in it in winter, and more water in summer. It naturally knows what's needed.
