Any cravings?

Anyone else having cravings yet? It is funny, because when I'm not queasy, I find during pregnancy I love food more than any other time in my life. If I'm craving something and I can get my hands on it, it is like the greatest meal in the entire universe, even if it is a bowl of corn flakes. Yesterday I was craving quesadillas, so I made them with soy cheese, peppers, tomatoes, salsa and Tofutti sour supreme. It was the best thing I'd ever eaten.

The other day, though, I was hungry for a Boca chicken patty on an onion roll, so I scorfed down 2 and then felt so sick I had to throw the rest of the onion rolls away because just looking at them made me ill.

I haven't had any cravings w/ this one yet, but w/ dd it was cheese in the 2nd tri and carrots in the 3rd. We would go to the grocery store, and I would get a whole bag full of nothing but cheese, which would last me like a day because dh would eat it all. I'd go to the refrigerator the next day and start searching for my cheese. When I couldn't find any, I'd ask dh, and he'd get this hang dog look on his face and say, "Oh, yeah...I...uh...ate some."

We didn't have any problems w/ the carrots. After the cheese experience, I guarded my carrot stash pretty militantly. Normally, I can't stand canned veggies, but I had to have carrots from a can, the big can, like 15 ozs or something. I would dump the whole can in a big bowl w/ some brown sugar, run it through the microwave, and eat the whole thing in one sitting. I ate at least one can a day, sometimes more. It's a wonder dd didn't come out orange!

With dd is was Clementine oranges, I ate boxes and boxes of those. They never have tasted as good as they did that pregnancy! This time the only thing I have been craving is sushi and the red curry dish from our favorite Thai restaurant. I satisfied the sushi craving last week, so that's it for me for a while, but I am thinking about getting some take out for lunch today LOL. Oh, and the crispy fried chicken from there is sounding pretty good too! Man, I'm really going to have to get that today!

Not yet until I read your comment about a bowl of corn flakes Oh man...what I would do for a bowl of corn flakes!

Salt!!! Well not actually salt alone but stuff like chips, nuts and canned chicken noodle soup (Wait! That last one is salt alone. LOL!) It was the same with my DD so maybe this is a girl too?!? With my DS it was Big Macs *ish* (nothing else like fries or soda), steak and chocolate.

Oh Paige! That sounds so good. I'm sitting here trying to figure out something to eat. Now I want that. Too bad we don't have any french bread!

The only cravings I've had so far are water, cereal and chicken salad sandwiches. DH is another story, he's already having sympathy cravings, and it's mostly sweet stuff, but for a while he was reallying jonesing for marinara sauce

Last pregnancy I craved: ice, big macs, fish sandwiches, Hardees french fries, pepsi, ice, oreos, prime rib (but it's a no-no), and ice

Not so healthy,eh? I'm really hoping to avoid the ice thing again, that was a PIA (I went out to find a gas stations that was open at 2 am because I couldn't sleep because I wanted ice and we didn't have any in the freezer!)

Isn't ice craving a sign of iron deficiency? I'd say make sure you eat a lot of iron rich food to avoid that one.

That's what I've been told. My iron has always been on the low side so I'm always trying to keep my intake up.

I've never heard that before. Why would an iron deficiency make you crave ice? That's so odd.

I dunno lol but yea, the funniest thing I remember is watching the third Lord of the Rings movie and Samwise and Frodo are climbing up the rocky mountain and in my mind I hear myself going "mmmm rocks" I got ice instead. Decided not to mention that one to anyone until after having dd...yea...

How funny...Cravings are such strange things. I know my grandmother occasionally craves struck matchheads. I wonder what that means....

Craving greens here. Lettuces mostly. I felt like I'd died and gone to heaven at the salad bar 2 nights ago. Mmmm...

I'm having a horrible time with meat though. Any kind just seems so disgusting right now. I'm forcing it down for the time being to get my protein, but if this lasts much longer I'll need to find some alternative protein sources. Any tips?

Grab a vegetarian cookbook! There are tons of veggie mamas here, you'll have no shortage of ideas for food
