Measuring small?

At my appointment today I measured 34 weeks even though I'm about 37.5 weeks along. I also haven't grown since the last appointment. In a few hours I'm going to the hospital for an u/s to estimate baby's size, but even the OB says that the size estimation is really inaccurate. What's the point of even doing it if we can't trust the results? I guess I'm just looking for some good vibes and hoping they don't find anything that makes them want to induce. I'm thinking that it's maybe just that the baby has dropped (which is a good thing )

Hey Hollin,

Just wanted to let you know your not alone. I have been measuring small this whole pregnancy, last weekend I was 38 weeks and measuring 35. But there has been fairly consistent growth week to week so MW says not to worry. Also baby is very low so I'm sure thats part of it, it's probably not even a particularily small baby. My son was 8.11 and the mW thinks this one will be around 8 pounds....... Anyway I think its pretty normal.

At my 35 wk visit I measured 35 weeks. At my 37 week visit, I measured 34 weeks. My midwife didn't say a word to me about it, and I thought it was the baby dropping. I was actually happy about it! I think it's prolly the same for you. I would decline the US personally, because this late in the game they're really inaccurate, and actually, the fundal height measurement is too.

I have been 35 cm sence 34 weeks I mesured 35 1/2 at 37 weeks and was back to 35 at 38 week visit. mw seceduald a us for this thursday, I dont realy knoe why I am due on fri so it seems a little pointless. i have been completly freeked sece sub mid wife secedalid it last wed. i guess if it was somting to worry about she would have gotin me a US sooner. but I am still freeked.

Measuring small, especially if you have been measuring right on or big previously, isn't generally a worry. It usually just means that baby has dropped Heck, I measured at least 2cms big from 21 weeks on. Last week, at 38 weeks, I meausred 37.5, that was a 2cm drop downward! Anyway, I'm sure you're already home from your appointment, please let us know how it went!!

The appointment went fine. The baby is definitely low, so low that she had a hard time measuring his head which probably accounts for the measurement change. The size estimation was 5 1/2 pounds which isn't so small that they need to do any interventions. Thanks for all the reassurance everyone! I was getting kind of freaked out because the OB was like, "we need to do the ultrasound today!". I'm just glad everything is okay now and they'll leave me alone for a few more weeks!
