Vegetarians...high protein ideas for bedtime snack?

My mw said I really need to be sure that I am getting enough protein. I do eat a fair amount of soy protein, but I'm wondering if I should continue that while preg . What are some other good sources of protein that I can eat before going to bed so that I don't wake up feeling completely depleted? With my other pregnancies, the major cause of m/s was waking up with nothing in my stomach and then feeling too sick to eat anything. It was a vicious cycle...

I have been eating lots of almond butter on rice cakes, toast, etc... Also a hand full of almonds here and there!

bean dip and corn chips or crackers...

I assume you are vegan? if not then yogurt
almond milk
peanut butter or other nut butter on ezekiel 7 grain bread (very high in protein)

good luck

Let's see here...

Chips and/or veggies with hummus.

Apple slices or banana with nut butter.

Sometimes I make a dessert shake/smoothie:

About 1/4 cup of walnuts

Almond milk

3-4 soft dates (you can put them in a little HOT water to soften them up if they're too hard)

1-2 frozen bananas

Dried coconut flakes to taste

2-4 Tbs Carob powder

Mix it all up in the blender (I always do the nuts alone first so they'll chop up fairly fine), pour into a cup and enjoy!

I'll add more if/when I think of them, hope that helps some

I'm just a vegetarian. I can't give up dairy. :

Thanks for the great suggestions!! We're going to Whole Foods tomorrow so I'm going to stock up.

:yawning: I am too tired to be able to think of much, but I bought some cottage cheese tonight thinking that would be a good protein boost.

Peanut Butter or hummus on bread. We just tried natural peanut butter (after being loyal Jif eaters lol) and it's really good, dd actually prefers it

I understand about the bedtime snack- I have to eat before bed or I wake up in the middle of the night really hungry, no fun.

Another vote for hummus! I love that stuff. It is a great dip for veggies and crackers. I had a big hummus sandwich for lunch today. Bean burritos on whole wheat tortillas are great, too.

BTW, my mw said soy is fine. I ate GOBS of soy during my last pregnancy. Soymilk really settles my stomach when I get morning sickness. I'm vegan, so I don't have dairy protein to rely on.

Oh, and check the labels if you buy almond milk. They are not all that high in protein. I think some (like almond breeze) are kind of watered down so they aren't high in fat. But they loose the protein content, too.
