I finally got to see my midwife and her assistant on monday just one day shy of my 14 week status. It was so wonderful to see these two women again.
Luckily for me, another mom (who is preg with#4, 1st girl due this month) has opened her home up to the midwife as a prenatal base for her clients in northern alabama (which includes me). now the prenatals are an hour away. Last preg the prenatals where at the assistants house 2 hours away. The midwife lives 3 hours away. She delivers all over the state. This state doesn't license midwives so there are only a couple. She's such a hands off, knowledgeable, capable midwife who is truely in it because she knows what a spiritual and important event birthing really is! She's had 9 of her own (all hb). And she made it to my house in plenty of time. The mom to be is going to let her home be used for prenatals after the baby is born.
So we just chatted for an hour and i had my dd with me. They did my blood pressure and hemoglobin (both great) and the pee sticks showed my water and protein intake was really good. Whew! I keep a stash of protein bars (when i find them on sale) in my car for when i do a lot of running around. She offered to try for a heartbeat but she has a fetalscope and didn't think she'd hear that day so i didn't worry about trying. I do feel the babe move here and there.
It wasn't till later in the day i realized i didn't get weighed. I haven't weighed myself at all in my pregnany. I'm still wearing my jeans, but they are snug across the abdomen when i wear so i wear them for going into work(when i can stand alot, sitting for long not comfortable). There is a definite bump (at least where all the guts are being pushed up). So, i don't think i've gained too much, but you never know. Oh well, maybe i just won't weigh myself at all until a month after the birth. Then i can i gained nothing.
And like Caleb's mama said on her thread, she grew more boobs overnight. THat's been happening to me and i didn't think it was possible that i could get bigger, but they have. That should account for some poundage
I know a gallon of water weighs eight pounds!
But, mw told me she uses my story(last delivery) as an example to her clients. At my 5 day pp checkup, when i promised the mw i'd lay down for that whole time (that was too hard too do), she got to my house before i did. I got busted for being out driving. I told her it was rude to show up early (and then she wouldn't have known), but at least i wasn't mowing my yard which i did a few days later. I had torn during this delivery (old epesiotomy scars that she couldn't massage any blood into) and she wanted to stitch but eeeooouww, i didn't want that. So i promised to lay prone for 5 days. I guess she tells clients if your going to break the rules, don't get caught.
And a bonus, i get her old rates since i'm a returning client!
