I need to start all over again.... suggestions please!

I'm gunna be moving in 2 months and unfortunately it's to another state, and I'll have to resubmit my info to get the childrens religious exemptions....
All 3 have their exemptions from FL, and I was told by my friends in FL how to do this.
But I'm moving to AL, which luckily has the religious exemption.
909shot says this about AL.....
(3) A written objection from the parent or guardian of a student based on religious tenets and practices shall be submitted in person by the parent or guardian to the County Health Department for issuance of a Certificate of Religious Exemption from the required immunizations or testing. A licensed physician can provide individual exemption from the required immunizations or testing on a Certificate of Medical Exemption. The Certificate of Religious Exemption and the Certificate of Medical Exemption will be on forms approved by the Alabama Department of Public Health and will be accepted in lieu of the Certificate of Immunization.
So I type up a letter stateing my religious objection.
And give it to the HD and they give me my exemp. letter.
Is it that easy....
What website has good letter templates for religious exemp???
Anyone had experience will AL HD's??? Houston County??? or even Dothan, AL...
it was easier in FL, i made the appt with the HD, I even sent dh, and he came back with the certificates.....No letter necessary...
Thanks

You should be able to simply state that vaccination is against your "deeply and sincerely held religious beliefs" (the usual standard)
They should NOT be able (legally/Constitutionally) to demand specifics of your religious belifs or proof of membership in any particular sect/denomination (like Amish or Christian Scientist)

And reading the text of the law you posted, it mentions nothing about approved religions. Simply states that you shall submit a statement that the practice conflicts with your religious belief and be issued an exemption.

Not that there have not been cases in which state officials HAVE placed such restrictions/interpretations on the law, but it is usually the exception rather than the rule, I think.

I had no problem claiming a religious exemption in Oregon simply by signing the back of the vax record form for preschool/school enrollment, and I heard from others that the state was very tolerant on the matter.

Others in other states have reported different experiences. Perhaps someone here has some knowledge regarding the state you are headed to, I don't.

As for sample letters, here are a few, the first of which is for Florida, but could apply anywhere, given the Constitutional argument it states.

But personally, I would not even go the route of citing that you have the right not to declare your religion UNLESS you encounter problems trying to simply state that vax is against them, KWIM? Seems like it might otherwise be seen as a red flag by someone and single you out for rejection/harrassment, jmho

To Whom It May Concern:

In accordance with Florida Statute 1003.22, which reads in part as follows:

Immunization against communicable diseases: school attendance requirements: exemptions. 1003.22 (5)(a): “The provisions of this sections shall not apply if: (a) The parent or guardian of the child objects in writing that the administration of immunizing agents conflicts with his or her religious tenets or practices;”

Under the Constitution of the United States we are granted “freedom of religion.” I know of no law that requires one to belong to an organized church or religious sect to practice his sacred beliefs. Please be advised and advise those concerned that I meet the requirements under Florida Statute 1003.22 and am requesting a religious exemption from vaccination because the administration of immunizing agents conflicts with my religious beliefs.

Sincerely,

(this one was written by a lawyer and details the specific beliefs which are violated. Again, likely won't be necessary, and might cause more hassles. But anexample of an approach, as above, which might come in handy IF your more simple, straightforward statement is rejected/challenged)

Best of luck on your move and claiming
