Challenged dairy allergy - Update

So I gave my 18 month old a little yogurt this week to challenge his dairy allergy/sensitivity. He'd never had any dairy directly before, only milk protein via breastmilk.

The only thing I've noticed is that he has a terribly stuffy nose at night. He's snoring like an old man and i's messing with his sleep.

BUT...the stuffy nose started the night before I gave him dairy, so it could be that the dairy irritated it OR that it's purely coincidence.

Planning on giving him 2 weeks to get it ou of his system and trying again. If it auses a stuffy nose hen I know i's the dairy and will keep him and I off it. If no stuffy nose, then we'll move onto milk

I have to add my 2 cents. My dd had been off most dairy since she was little. Over the summer I started on and off adding dairy in the form of cheese etc. Well in oct she seemed to be eating more and more and she had a constant stuffy nose. She was snoring so loud she couldnt sleep or breath through her nose. I ended up after 2 mo of this going to the ENT she had lots of fluid in her ears and they were red. I took her off dairy over Christmas and in 2 days she was so much better. She is no completley better and sleeps and the fluid in her ears went from a 300 to 150 no more reddening either. The pimples on her checks is almost gone also.

We had Allergy testing and she was allergic to NOTHING not even dairy but it is obvious she is sensitive to it. I hope this has helped some.

Thanks I'm hoping it's a considence, but in all honesty I'm guessing it the dairy. Won't be sure unless we get it out of his system and challenge once more.

That's so maddening!! That has happened to us, too! My ds doesn't react to dairy like he did when he was a newborn (screaming, etc) it's a very gradual, subtle thing. I have noticed tho that every time we introduce dairy he gets a cold (we all do) but for him it just doesn't clear up - until we cut the dairy out again.

Good luck!
