I had a similar problem with my first baby- she latched on great for the first 4 days of life, then when my milk came in, I got engorged, and she couldn't latch on anymore. I ended up pumping to relieve engorgement, and using an SNS to feed her until I was able to get her to latch on again. This only took about a day- first we used the SNS as a finger feeder, then I put it on my breast but she just sucked on the tube and not my breast (at least she was feeding next to my breast for that feeding!) and then I got her to latch on properly, and then we didn't need to use the SNS anymore. I can only imagine what could have happened if I hadn't kept up with the pumping when she couldn't latch- I could have lost my supply. And if I'd given her bottles instead of using the SNS, she very well could have become nipple confused and not latched on at all anymore.

Very good point ruth! I guess I am being too negative about her. Seems the SNS is really a great thing. I haven't talked to her yet, I must call her right now!

Thanks girls!
