Thanx for bumping this MT! Wonderful example of how asking the right questions will get you the right answers.

You do not have to vaccinate yourself or your children in Canada. What province are you in? Ontario, Manitoba, and NB require proof of certain vaccinations for entrance to school, due to their "health protection act". In any of these provinces you can submit a waiver. In other provinces, nothing is needed for school entrance. I was asked at 2 daycares a private school for DD's vaccination record and I just wrote a note in place of it stating, "DD is not vaccinated". They just needed for their records as in the case of an epidemic, DD would have to stay home (like I'd want her there anyway???). Public Health now calls me on occasion to verify if DD is still our decision not to vaccinate and I simply say "yes".

As far as I know, there can be no forced vaccination during an epidemic. I believe they can quarantine you (if that's the right word) but they can't make you get a vaccine.

Thank you, thank you, thank you so much for this wonderful post. It addresses many of my vaguely-formed concerns and fears about what to do with my new baby, coming in early March. I have quit vaccinating my two beloved dogs (although they are 12 and 13 now) because I instinctively felt the senselessness of injecting two healthy animals over and over again on some preset schedule. Didn't really know why, but finally went with my instinct a few years ago. Not willing to take the same chance STRICTLY on gut feeling with my child, so it is very very good to begin to understand that yes, there is some basis to totally avoid vaccinations end of story.

Now please let me find a doctor who will be respectful.

My entire ancestry, only my mother was forced vaccinated, when she was 16 or 17 yo, she has the scar on her arm, from when they would inject all of them at once. Also, never had formula, everyone has been breastfed throughout our history back to the beginning.

My sisters and I were never vax'd, neither our children. All of us were breastfed, and have breastfed our children, average 2-3 yrs.

In '98 or '99, I had titers done on myself and my dd, we had natural immunity to just about everything, including small pox.

The only one that keeps coming back as no-immunity is the rubella one.
