does anyone make wool covers? How do you make them?? Does you have to use 100% wool to make em? I was thinking about making some but i need to know what i need to get? Any info would be great. If you know of a web site that would be helpful but if someone would walk me through it it would be great.. I was alergic to wool as a child so i don't know if my son will be that is why i was wondering if you have to use just wool will anything else work.

I make wool covers using felted 100% wool sweaters or felted 100% wool jersey fabric that I buy from a co-op. I use my regular diaper pattern. Wool needs to be lanolinized (with a wool wash, like Eucalan). HTH.

And you find that that works? I've always used 100% wool and bypassed beautiful material (sweaters ) because they were 'only' 75% or 90% wool.

( babe in arms)

you can lanolise with lasinoh (or purelan, or whatever) lanolin nipple cream and a bit of baby shampoo too!

in a cup of HOT water put in 1/8 to 1/4 tsp lanolin. after it's melted, add small squirt shampoo and mix. it'll go cloudy white.

Meanwhile, put wool covers in bucket of lukewarm water.

add the lanolin mix and gently swish covers around a bit.

let sit at least 15 mins.

get rid of excess water (i take the bucket to the washer and dump it in then spin)

hang to dry.

you should be able to find lanolin nipple cream everywhere!

You can use any hair / wool combo fabric ( angor rabit hair, cashmere goat hair, alpaca). What you want to avoid is synthetics in the mix.
Wool repels smell and allows moisture vapor to escape while liquid is held in the diaper.
If you use synthetics it will smell and not breath as well.
You can buy wool wash at many animal feed stores (for washing 4-H lambs. )

Can you believe that i was looking at some of the wool covers for sale and i found one for 30 dollars i was in shock. You can make one for a dollar if you find a wool sweater at a thrift store. You can get two out of 1 sweater. I was in shock.
