i was wondering since i made my own pattern do you have to cut you pul any larger or any different to make and AIO than a fitted or do you just make it the same with the PUL on the outside.

You should cut the waterproof fabric a bit bigger through the leg openings so that the PUL rolls in thus ensuring that the absorbant layers don't wick moisture onto baby's clothes.

Do a forum search... there is a GREAT tutorial on getting layers to roll that was made up sometime this fall.

Well, you can make a few changes to make the AIO work better. Either cut the PUL slightly bigger between the legs where the elastic goes, or the inner slightly smaller. Then sew the elastic on the PUL side holding it down with a zigzag stitch. Then when you turn don't do a casing. If you don't have a casing you have fewer holes that can leak! The PUL should roll in and keep the inside from wicking. If you make the inner microfleece or suedecloth it probably won't wick much anyway so it really does not matter so much how you sew it!
