When would you consider a diaper has a problem with wicking??

Any amount of dampness is unacceptable for me, if I wanted wet clothes or a soggy butt I'd be using sposies. As long as a child is changed reasonably often there should never be dampness on a well-made dipe. (Which is why I'm using PUL as an outter because compression wicking would make me nuts)

The one exception would be nighttime dipes. Sometimes wet ones are just unavoidable even in the most absorbant dipes.

Dry is the #1 priority in a diaper for me, personally.

Most of DS's stash is windpro fleece, which is great stuff EXCEPT when he's sitting for long periods of time (napping in swing or sitting in carseat, for example). If he is wearing cotton knit against the fleece, he gets compression wicking that makes his clothing damp. He can sleep in these all night & not wick, but the pressure of sitting on them causes wicking.

i make my son fitted and use greber plastic pants for now. I haven't had the best of luck making covers. I am going to make some wool covers and see how i like them

If I'm using a cotton print, I just know to change sooner and not to use it when going out. I do NOT want wet clothes.

With the cotton woven outers, I use them at home or in the afternoon when DS tends to pee less. But it seems they are always in use b/c DS wants to wear the monkeys, or the frogs, or the ducks...

Dawn (Daisie125) - your line at the bottom (="sigie"??) is great! You are ambitious!!

I voted when clothes are wet.

I don't use cotton outers AT ALL though because the cotton bummis covers that were given to us 2nd hand drive me bonkers. I can't stand the way they wick!

I want those clothes to be dry! Now, in the summer I can definately see using cotton outers and just let the baby go with a diaper for 'shorts' but I also make nice butt sweaters so I still have a better option wicking cotton outer covers.
