overwhelmed (but I'm okay!)

I have a load of thrift store finds in the dryer right now so thought I'd take a second to post a couple of questions. It'll be at least another week before I can clear out a space for the sewing machine so I still have a bit of time but...

I found a 3XL brand new (with tags and size sticker) black sweatshirt. I'm a little nervous about the dye rubbing off on his butt but I thought I could use that as an inner layer. If I put the fleecy side towards him he'll feel dry and it'll wick/absorb the wetness into the inner soaker layers, right??

My main question is this though. I found a gorgeous mocha velour man's shirt but it's 100% polyester. Is that better for the inner layer (against him) or the outer layer (and used with a cover)? I really need to do up a binder or something with tabs and print pages out for handy reference. Cotton absorbs and poly doesn't really, from what I've gathered here. So if I put the velour against him will he feel wet against him all the time?

And just thought I'd throw this old post up here about where to find fabrics/notions. I think it's pretty handy. I came across it tonight as I'm reading through old posts. http://www.mothering.com/discussions...d.php?t=357294

My guess is that it's 100% cotton? If so you should be able to use it on any part of the diaper. But it will just be absorbent, not wicking.

It's hard to say! It's my experience that some 100% poly velour or suedecloths make nice stay-dry layers, while others just feel wet and icky.
