me again - washcloth question

I see people posting about folding a washclothin thirds and using that (or a couple) to stuff pockets or make the soaker layer in AIO's. I know you can get a couple slightly different sizes of washcloths but are these big enough for all diapers? My guy is about 23lbs and 32"; he's 13.5 months, average size and not scrawny but not chubby. If I just place the washcloth slightly to the front of the diaper? Is it going to be long enough??

For that age, I think you'd want more than just a single wash cloth. The wash cloths are typically used for newborns like a prefold. You could piece together several wash cloths for a toddler... you'd probably need at least 4, possibly more.

I'll bet Beeps can probably tell you how many wash cloths to use for a toddler? I think she's done it (she's used just about every recycled material known to man ).

Yep, heres how i do it. Over lap 2 wash clothes (standard ones are 12 " x 12", I get them for $3.92 per 18 pk at walmart) like this Washcloth overlapped

Then, tri fold like this Wash cloth insert folded

Then i stitch down the center and wrap the whole thing in a flannel scrap and sew all the way around it (or serge) then sew to the inside of my diaper. I only buy the white wash clothes I used a yellow one so you could see how I overlap them. My DD is 27 lbs and wears a large/ex large so i make her insert 4 " x 14". The insert will be thicker every where but on the ends, depending on how you overlap yours. Its plenty thick doing it this way and adding a thin flannel scrap doesn't make it much thicker.

Thanks beep and Vera!! I have a ton of flannel blankets and some baby towels I can cut up but if washclothes are plenty cheap too, that's something to remember.
