snap tape?

I'm just reading through some posts on The Pin and one of the moms was showing a dipe she had made for her daughter. She used snap tape. Anyone have any thoughts on this in terms of cost effectiveness, durability, etc? When I do my dipes (IF I ever get around to it ) I had planned to use velcro or Aplix since I don't have a snap press and don't feel I can justify the cost just to make a few diapers. I'm not sure how much snap tape runs (haven't bought any in ages) but maybe it would be slightly cheaper to buy the snaps and make my own tape if I could find snaps in bulk (or at least in bigger boxes than Fabricland sells).

On one hand hook and loop would be so much easier because I wouldn't have to worry about placement - the tabs could hook onto it wherever they need to; snap tape would involve me having to figure out what the best placement of the snaps on the tape would be.

Thought? Experiences??

I haven't used snap tape on a diaper. but whenever I have used it on baby clothes, I've found it to be kind of pricey and also hard to sew on correctly. JMHO. YMMV.

I've used snap tape on diapers, but as several of them were for my not yet born one, I can't give you good usability reports. I made one dipe for my toddlers w/ snap tape & The snaps I was using the most fell off fairly quickly! I was really suprised. I don't know why. . .Could be that it was snap tape that was in my sewing box from eons ago? That doesn't really make sense though. . .
