midwife rant

soooooooooooooo........my midwife has cancelled on me three times now. Just issues in her and her partner's lives that has them running in circles dealing with their own sick families, mothers who are going through breast cancer sugery and moving out of houses.

I'm just annoyed. I know I shouldn't be, but man I want to have this setteled, and I would also like to be checked out a bit too. It would just ease my mind. I want to get into the rhythm of being pregnant again.

It's now Wednesday and I still haven't heard from her. She is my only home birthing midwife in my area too with a secure backup doctor at my local hospital, so my hands are somewhat tied.

ugh. this is just annoying.

That sounds really frustrating. Hopefully she will get these issues resolved and be able to really focus on being a midwife soon. I would bet she feels pretty awful about not being able to give it 100%. At least this is happening at the beginning of your pregnancy and not around birthing time when you'd REALLY need her.

that's the one thing that I keep telling myself. That I'm glad its now, and not in august when I am full bloom!

That's awful - for you both. My midwife friend I work with just had her Mom die and it's been hard for her to work through that and still have lots of Moms needing her full time you know? She doesn't have a partner to help with that either so it makes it harder I think.

I wonder if you called and said that you'd like to be checked out and don't mind a shorter apt. (like 1/2 hour if it's usually 45 min. or an hour) but it would make you feel better - that may let her know you're wanting a little more from them and are willing to accomodate their current situation a little too.

It's hard to not have your midwife at full charge... but it sounds like she's dealing with some big stuff too. Hope it smooths out for all of you!
