I need motivation.

I am soooo tired taking care of 3 kids by myself! I know I need to sew, though! Carmen is already snug her size smalls! I have 3 diapers cut and embroidered. (I obviously failed my goal... 5 diapers done by last friday. Yeah, I had these 3 cut out and that's all)

I need motivation. I know you all have to have something to say that will inspire me! Please? I just want to stay in my jammies and lay around all day.

s I know how you feel right now. I have a stack of diapers to do and they aren't even for me! Instead of talking yourself into finishing the diapers, just finish the next step. I find if I can get myself to at least accomplish one step that I'll end up feeling motivated and finishing it all. So, you can even stay in your jammies, just tackle that next step!
I have 5 diapers cut, 3 with soakers sewn in that need to be finished today. I made 4 yesterday and 3 the day before. It was easier to do them in batches than trying to finish 12 all at once.
Good luck!

I imagine it must be hard, especially since your hubby was there to share some of the load before. It's only ever been me and Brogan and I've found it hard at times but I only have one; I can't imagine trying to do it with three, especially with a baby and a toddler. How is your older DD?

Yeah, I can't imagine how hard it must be either. I only have one and I stay in my pjs all day pretty often!

But I know that for me, squeezing in some crafting time somewhere makes me feel much better. Think of it as you time plus being practical. I think if you can manage to completely finish one diaper, you may feel a sense of accomplishment and be inspired to do more.

I agree with PP, the hardest part is getting started--pin one together, turn on the machine and make the goal getting one side stitched--you won't be able to stop. Hey, it's still less of a PITA than having to get yourself plus three kids dressed to go out and buy disposables!

True. I'm still in my jammies. BUT I did dishes, and made lunch. Still haven't sewn... but now is time to toss Sofia in the tub and then nap time. Then I have laundry (diapers... so it can't wait.) and Ugh... I have so much to do. I can barely keep up with the housework, it seems. When my oldest gets home from school I have to go to the bookstore and the grocery store to get things to send to my husband. Then, I swear... when all is quiet, I am going to sew. If you see me posting here anymore today, please scold me. :

OP, I know how you feel! I worked really hard to do lots of housework yesterday so I could sew, but now. . .I really want to make diapers, but I really HAVE to sew the bunting for my soon-due cold weather baby. I have lots of dipes already, & I really NEED the bunting, but I really WANT to make diapers, so I'm dragging my arse on the bunting. . .Sigh. Not helping that thing 1 & thing 2 are not napping today. Good luck!

I admire the fact that you've even gotten some embroidery done!!

I've cut the PUL for two small dipes... and two cute-fabric liners for those... but I havne't cut anything for the absorbant part yet on those two dipes -- let alone gotten around to sewing them yet!! By the time I do finally get to them I'm afraid they won't fit any more!!

But I totally hear you. It *is* hard to get any sewing done with three kids, especially younger ones. Then, it seems than when I finally *do* get some free time.. well, there's always something else that should be done first (like laundry -- holy cow, how much laundry can three little girls generate?!?! A TON!!! -- and dishes and general cleaning... diaper-making just doesn't get moved up on the priority list ever)

When I'm totally lacking in motivation, sometimes I set my goals SUPER low. Like "tonight cut out the outer of one diaper." It gets something done without feeling like I'm forcing it, and some nights I end up doing a little more. Once I get started it's not so bad.

Motivation? Or time?

I have 8 kids at home and the youngest (9mo.) simply won't sleep more than 20 min. for a nap. It is sooooo hard to find time to sew, she wants me all the time. So, I have the motivation but not enough time.

Yeah, I hear you all about staying in the jammies all day!!!

I wish I had an embroidery machine, dh is already miffed that I bought a serger and another sewing machine (one just like my 26 y.o. machine for dd to learn on). I got them off of eBay for really good prices. So, unless I find a REALLY good deal, the embroidery machine will have to wait awhile.

StrawHatBrat: I lOVE the embroidery you do on your diapers. Please keep sharing your diaper pics, they inspire me!
