Question about VB fitted?

I am looking at the picture on the pattern and it looks like the zig-zag elastic goes through to the outer print. But the pattern says like it only goes through the 2 absorbant layers????

Does anyone have experience with it? Also, looking at my other fitteds, it looks like most go through the outer 2 layers not the inner two layers...make sense?? LOL

I have tried going through all 3 layers and it is HARD!!!

when I make the VB fitted I always just sew the elastic to the 2 absorbent (inner) layers. HTH.
