food journal for vomiting?

John is 16 months old and vomits for no apparent reason 2-3 times a week. It seems to generally be in the evening during/after eating. We had a check up today and I told the ped about it. She asked that we do a food journal for 2 weeks and see if we can find a connection. Have you ever done that? What do you keep track of? I assume what type of food, how much, what time, etc? But every single thing? We graze to eat all day. We have breakfast and dinner, but no real lunch. What about breastfeeding? He probably nurses 10-15 times a day and 3-4 during the night. What do you think?

i just wanted to let you know that my daughter is 15 months and has a similar problem. she went for months with on and off vomiting. her episodes always happened 2-3 hours after eating some type of solid food and always occured after she had a full feeding of breastmilk. her doctor and i do not think it was an allergic reaction because she showed no other allergic symptoms and it always happened with different foods. we did try keeping a food journal but it just added to the mystery for us because at times she would vomit bananas, sweet potatoes and avocado and other times eat them with no problem. she hasn't had an episode since she was 1 y.o. i drove myself crazy always keeping food journals for her and myself and never finding a connection. i think it is a good idea, i just hope you have better luck than i did finding the connection!
