Ok, so I bought a yard and a half of wool. My question is, do I have to wash it so it felts, the same as a sweater? TIA!

This book feels good in your hands. The paper is heavyweight, and the illustrations flow perfectly.

it's up to you. You don't have to. It depends on how thick it is, what you want to use it for, etc.
When I buy yardage of wool jersey or whatever, I usually wash it and dry it so it felts. Then I cut it and make wool wraps from it (and I lanolinize prior to use). I use 2 layers if it's thin.
HTH!

Just be careful not to felt TOO much.
Agitation in the hot water is what REALLY felts it alot, so don't leave it in a for a long, long time. I made that mistake. I started out with 2 yards of 60" wool jersey, and after two long, hot washes, I had 1 yard of 44"!!! And it's really thick now too. I wish I'd just done one short wash, then checked it out to see if it was thick enough. I was going to do 2 2-layer covers, but now I have to do 2 1-layer covers. At least I can still get 2 covers out of it period... Wool isn't cheap!!! It doesn't look anything like jersey now, let me tell you!!!
